Class! Project: Russian specialists will support teachers of Uzbekistan
A group of participants of the Class! Project arrived in Tashkent («Зўр!») - a humanitarian program aimed at improving the teaching of the Russian language and in Russian in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Education of Russia jointly with the Ministry of Public Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and non-profit Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation.
The second phase of the project is planned for 2021. In 2020, specialists conducted a linguistic audit, it involved more than 5,000 people, including teachers of the Russian language of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as schoolchildren of the 9th and 11th grades.
As part of the first stage of the project in 2020, 32 Russian resource specialists conducted a linguistic audit in 14 regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. About 4,085 Uzbek teachers were tested for knowledge of Russian as a foreign language, as well as for the level of proficiency in pedagogical competencies. About 996 students took part in the testing for knowledge of Russian as a foreign language. As a result, 2019 certificates were issued to adults and 996 children. A survey and questioning of the Russian language teachers were also carried out, as well as an analysis of the Russian language teaching aids for schools with Uzbek or another language of instruction.
This year, the project participants are divided into two groups according to their functional load - resource specialists and teachers.
The immediate task of the resource specialists is to improve the qualifications of pedagogical competencies of the Uzbek teachers, to identify the level of pedagogical competencies and language knowledge among teachers in all 12 regions of Uzbekistan, Tashkent and Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Teachers from Russia will be spread to schools in different cities and regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including those in which the issue of staffing is quite acute. In addition to teaching, teachers will provide methodological support to their Uzbek colleagues, help and support in solving professional problems.
