Development potential of youth sports in the educational environment were discussed at the Ministry of Education of Russia
The Ministry of Education of Russia plans to develop a set of measures that will help expand the opportunity for schoolchildren of different ages to go in for sports.
“Comprehensive, harmonious development of the younger generation is one of the important tasks of the Ministry. And this is impossible without physical education and sports, ”said Dmitry Glushko.
Dmitry Glushko added that now the task was to integrate sports into schools more actively, both by expanding the infrastructure at educational institutions and by preparing special programs that would give students the opportunity to play sports while receiving a full-fledged education. Thus, the children would develop the habit of exercising and leading a healthy lifestyle. That would lead to new sports victories.
Dmitry Glushko said that the results of national studies of the education quality indicated that Russian schoolchildren preferred team sports.
“Since 2010, we have been gradually including three physical education lessons in the timetable Now this practice has been introduced in 80% of schools. We are thinking of dedicating one of the physical education lessons to team sports,” emphasized the First Deputy Minister of Education.
It is planned to include modules on specific sports in the main educational program - handball, judo, tag-rugby. Sample programs in hockey and chess are being prepared. Elements of gymnastics will be emphasized for primary school.
